Ampeg SVT 2 Pro Harma STR full upgrade kit is designed to give your SVT 2 Pro a clean sound. This set will suit the player who wants to get a nice clean and well balanced sound and this will suit the majority of Ampeg owners.
The Harma ECC83 STR is a very well balanced with nice even bass response which has plenty of depth. The mid-range is very transparent which when changing pickup selection or using different basses gives a nice tonal variation that was lost in some other valves.
The treble has nice punch which can sound clanky if required when used in conjunction with the extensive tonal shaping of the SVT 2 pro.
The Harma ECC82 STR follows the frame grid style of plate construction which makes it super low in microphonics. The sound is extremely well balanced and transparent.
This valve also has less midrange emphasis than the Harma ECC822 Retro allowing you to dial in the amount of fatness that you want. It supplies a clear and deep bass response with a fast attack which makes it ideal for those percussive styles of playing
The Harma 6550A has a rich warm transparent sound and supreme reliability and the valve has a number of important features .It uses special thick mica with internal bracing and spacing supports with full length anode heat wings to aid cooling capacity and provides improved heat transfer.
The plate is constructed out of high temperature laminated alloy with an industrial grade glass envelope to prevent microphoney. The control grid wire is made of gold with a special coated screen grid to improve reliability.
This is certainly the best sounding 6550 that I have found in the Ampeg SVT in both original and PCB units in over many years of use.
The valves when used in conjunction with the extensive tonal shaping of the SVT 2 pro is best suited to bass player that wants a cleaner punchier sound with more versatility to shape the Ampeg' s tone

These Ampeg full revalve kits are put together to provide a sonic upgrade to your Ampeg. I own and have played over the past 30 years Ampeg SVT, Original V4B and for recording used the B15-N portaflex.These amps are still the kings of bass amplifier in my opinion and these kits use the best of New Old Stock valves and modern day production items to give you the best sound out of these lengendary bass amps.
