The JJ factory was born out of the ashes of the former Tesla factory. They currently make a range of High quality valves based on some of Tesla most famous designs.
The JJ KT66 is designed to be a rugged road worthy KT66 with the sonic qualities of the Original G.E.C KT66. JJ have chosen not to use a glass envelope that resemblance to the original GEC KT66. Instead they have chosen to use a 6550 style envelope. This reduces microphonics which is great for use in combo applications particularly the Marshall Vintage Modern.

The JJ KT66 has a number of special features; JJ uses a laminated alloy for the plate construction which helps heat transfer under overload conditions. JJ use gold plated grid wire which improves the grid bias stability results in longer life and better sound quality.

The JJ is robustly constructed with a tick glass envelope and the metal bases are fully
Isolated, like their KT88 so you need not worry about this point. The other excellent feature is that the plate voltage has been increased to 550 volts so this can be used in place of a 6L6GC with only a minor bias adjustment.

Sound wise this KT66 is superbly balanced, with plenty of bass depth, thick warm mids and chiming highs. In clean mode, the JJ KT66 has clear highs with an excellent top end chime. The soundstage is also very full and vibrant. When pushed into overdrive the valve really does display a warm and solid crunch. The JJ has a wonderfully smooth breakup and handles distortion on overdrive pedals really well.

This glass envelope has many advantage for the guitarist and gives a great tonal variation for all those 6L6GC equipped amplifiers.
