Blackstar guitar amplifiers have quite rightly caused a major buzz in the music industry since their launch back in 2007. By upgrading the valves to our selected sets customers have been able to voice their amps to their personal requirements. Customers have reported a range of benefits when upgrading the valves over the factory items. Here we have listed our most common upgrades using current production and the best new old stock items to help you get the most out of these fine Blackstar amplifiers.
Classic Early Distortion kit



This Classic Distortion upgrade kit covers the Black Star HT1, HT1-R combos and HT1-R head and is designed to provide the ideal combination for those who demand a tight driving rock sound with plenty of rich sustain with some added punch.

It is an effective upgrade over the stock valves for those who want a more authentic rock and blues sound. This is done by using valves that are traditionally voiced in combination with an ECC82 specially chosen for its distortion characteristics.

The Harma ECC83 Retro provides a harmonically rich and detailed sound with excellent 3D midrange warmth.

The outstanding feature of this valve is its smooth linear midrange response and extended frequency response so you get smooth warm overdrive with tight fat punchy lows.

The ECC82 we use is a new old stock RFT. The reason we have chosen this valves is for its distortion and overdrive characteristics. These valves simply sound superb as they produce a punchy aggressive tone with a crunchy edge when overdriven. This valve outperformed other more expensive new old Stock ECC82 with ease.

Single line guitar Solos cut through the mix with plenty of definition. What I really like about the RFT valve is that it is very thick sounding when playing chords, It adds a nice fatness if you are using a Stratocaster or a Tele but is really thick when using a guitar with humbuckers such as a Gibson Les Paul.

The valves distorted characteristics perfectly complement the warmth of the Harma Retro in pre amp and captures that vintage crunchy sound that we all love.
