DR Z amplifiers were founded in 1988 by Mike Zaite, a.k.a. Dr. Z.in Cleveland, Ohio, in the United States. In 1994 Zaite built several more amps for Joe Walsh to use on the 1994 Eagles World Tour this put DR Z name firmly in the public eye. Dr. Z amplifiers are beautifully made and many use a unique circuit design bases on the EF86 pentode. Our upgrade kits use the best combination of new old stock and modern day valves. These we believe will give you the best sound and performance from your amplifier. You have not compromised in your choice of amplifier, so why compromised on the choice of valves.
This full revalve kit is designed to give you the best clean sound with the maximum clarity when playing clean with a smooth distortion when you overdrive the amplifier.

The Harma ECC83 STR is used as it has a very well balanced tone with nice even solid bass. The mid-range is clean and transparent with plenty of high end chime and extended upper range harmonics.

In the output stage we use the Harma E84L as this has proved to be one of the most reliable EL84 available.This is the special burst tested version of the E84L that is tested on the rig built for Brian May for the ultimate reliability.

The Harma E84L is a high quality special application military valve that has a rugged construction and thick glass which reduces microphonics and rattles in all guitar combos. The valve produces a deep clear bass response, clear mids and smooth highs.

It delivers the maximum clean headroom out of any current EL84 providing a rich warm overdrive sound when distorted with excellent balance and no hardness

This is the special burst tested version of the E84L that is tested on the rig built for Brian May for the ultimate reliability.

This combination of a transparency in the input stage and a clean output stage gives you the perfect marriage of clean and crunch sounds.

We use an original American Philips 5Y3WGTA as these provide the correct rectification with no reduction in B+ voltage unlike many of the modern 5Y3GT on the market today.
