The General Electric JAN 5654W is a military version of The EF95 6AK5 pentode.
The W Jan version had a number of final improvements for military applications with a rugged construction which allows the valve to operate in high vibration applications; this makes it ideal in the Little Bear amplifiers.

The General Electric 5654W has for a long time been the go to upgrade over the Chinese 6J1 valve.

This valve is an audio bargain as the General Electric 5654W produces a warm and very musical sound with especially fabulous top end response. This is what sets this valve apart from the rest as cymbals and horns sit a little forward in the mix making it a great choice for jazz and Blues.

The valve is leaner in the midrange when compared to the Mullard M8100 and has a fuller top end when compared to the Siemens 5654W. It also has a more laid back sound when compared to the Siemens but has little more punch and attitude than the Mullard M8100.
