Raytheon Technologies Corporation is an American multinational aerospace and defence Electronics group. They produced valves in the USA and distributed valves that they sourced around the globe under the Raytheon brand name. 1961 They took over British electronics company AC Cossor and merged it with Raytheon
These are military grade 5842WA Black Plate from the American Raytheon company.

Raytheon was based in Massachusetts, USA and these valve were made in the USA for Military contract to the JAN specification.

The W suffix denotes a ruggedized version; the A is the improved version for long life.
The Raytheon valve has a very clear and concise sound which many customers like.

The main feature is its neutrality in the midrange which some prefer as they feel it gives a more accurate musical presentation.

The Raytheon is an audio bargain considering the price and performance it has a very detailed and neutral sound with great
presentation and are an excellent alternative to the WE item.

This is an excellent audio tube and is a great replacement for the 417 Western Electric
