The USA made Philips 6AU6WC is one of the best valves that we have come across for use in tube microphones.

The Philips sound is warm and musical with low noise and excellent clarity and detail.

We have supplied these for use in Calrec, Sony C37a and C800G and Altec 21B microphones over the years. The 6AU6WC was designed to offer stable performance under conditions of high - temperature, vibration, shock and altitude. The W denotes the special quality and the final letter indicates the particular variant C being long life. These are fully interchangeable with the other 6AU6 types. They come with either yellow or blue print. They also offer and upgrade over the Russian 6P2 and Chinese 6J4P, 6ZH4P.

Customers have told us that that the Philips 6AU6WC also have improved clarity and are quieter than the Russian 6P2 and Chinese 6J4P, 6ZH4P types.

For vintage tube microphones that use the Original USA made Philips is the correct size.
The glass envelope is 18 mm in diameter and excluding the B7G base pins the valve is 47 mm tall. Unlike the larger diameter Russian and Chinese items.
