The Sovtek Corporation produces a range of the most popular audio and guitar valves. These valves are made in Russia to high standards at the reflector plant. These valves are used by original equipment manufactures the world over for their sound quality and reliability.
The Sovtek 5881WXT has become the choice of many manufactures and established itself as the industry standard 5881 6L6GC type. The valve is renowned for its solid performance and proven reliability in the most demanding situations.

The valve was used by Groove Tubes as it 6L6-RB and 6L6-R and was used by Fender and fitted to most new Fender amps. Fender used this under the Fender brand also as the Groove Tube brand. So if you own a Fender amp from the 1990 on then this is most likely what was fitted as standard.

The reasons for this is simple, the valve is extremely reliable. Electrically it is a good design and built to Russian military standards. The 5881WXT is excellent in combo applications as the valve very low on microphonics due to its solid plate structure.

Sound wise it delivers a very well balanced sound with a warm sweet treble. The bass is very clear and well defined. The valve handles pedals very well as does not get harsh or fizzy under saturation.

Sovtek valves are designed and manufactured with strict quality control and engineered for demanding conditions and high reliability. We have these available in specially selected pairs and quads matched on anode current and gain.
