Original Mullard EF86 with the solid screen anode offers superb performance in this classic microphone. The Mullard EF86 features the solid screen around the anode plate and rigid internal support. The anode has a solid screen design which covers the anode plate and is grounded. Some Engineers consider this screen better than the mesh screen design due to it exceptionally low levels of hum.

The EF86 is a high gain pentode that was designed to amplify low-level audio signals. This is the most sought after for applications such as tube microphones. The valve provides a warm clear and transparent sound with incredible detail. Engineers have told us that they feel the valve is very accurate and it has therefore become a standard replacement

These items have made in Great Britain and the old style shield Mullard logo on the glass in white print and we made in England at Mullards Blackburn factory.
