Thermionic Culture Ltd. was formed in England in 1998 by Vic Keary and Jon Bailes to manufacture state of the art valve studio equipment. Vic Keary credentials are the best in the business as not only has he mixed, produced and engineered but also he designed the equipment that was used on countless hit records in his days at Lansdowne, Chalk Farm Studios & Chiswick Reach. Jon Bailes is an expert designer in the electronic manufacturing industry.

Our valve revalve kits use only the highest grade new old stock valves and the best of the modern made valves. We have put these kits together to allow easy ordering for our studio customers.
Thermionic Culture snow petrel full upgrade kit consists of a set of 6 selected valves to provide the best sonic and audio performance from this legendary piece of studio equipment.

This two channel microphone amplifier was originally designed for use with the ribbon microphone such as the Coles 4038.

The Mullard M8100 is used in the first stage as it has very low noise and excellent midrange warmth.

A high grade Philips Dario Mesh Screen EF86 is used for it exceptional quality in stage 2.

The Dario Miniwatt EF866 was made in Holland and Dario was a trade name used by Philips. The Dario item is identical to other Philips brands such as AMPEREX, BUGLE BOY EF86. They have the famous mesh construction and sonically the best valve for this unit. Due to its gain and low noise the Philips Dario EF86 it will sound superb with any microphone.

In the output stage the military spec ECC82/5814A Philips completes the upgrade.

This set consists of 6 valves

2 Specially Gain selected M8100 Mullard
2 Specially Gain selected EF86 Philips Dario
2 Specially Gain selected ECC82/5814A Philips.
