Electro Harmonix is the top end brand which is owned by the Sovtek corp. Many of these valve designs are new designs based on old classic items.
The 12AX7 Electro Harmonix is one of the best sounding current production 12AX7/ECC83 types made today. Most famously the valve was used by Mesa Boogie as the 12AX7 R2 and was responsible for Mesa classic break up characteristics.

Electro Harmonix 12AX7 has a number of premium features. EH Use a very rigid internal construction thick grade 22mm glass envelope and short plates which provide provides very low microphonics.

This superior high gain valve with ultra low noise which is down to EH unique spiral filament which eliminates cathode to filament induced hum. These features also make this an ideal replacement for original Fender amps for the demanding 7025 positions.

The sound is well balanced with good clarity. The valve breaks up easily and quickly and being a high gain valve is a very open and has very low levels of hiss so it is well suited to vintage as well as current high gain guitar amplifiers.
