One of the most famous American Valve manufactures of all time. RCA was responsible for designing and manufacturing many important valves such is the 6V6GT, 6L6GC, 7027a and the super EL84 known as 7189. RCA also pioneered many advances in manufacture such as the black plate coating and had a hand in helping GEC make the famous KT66.
The ECF80 was designed for the professional VHF communications market and consists of a triode section which was used as the oscillator and a screened pentode section as the mixer. The valve has two cathodes, so two independent valves are sited in the one glass valve.

These ECF80 are boxed and branded RCA but was in fact made by Siemens of West Germany for RCA. The valve has made in Germany printed on the valve in white print next to the Siemens code.

Soundwise this valve is excellent as it displays a very neutral sound which has made it the most sought after of the ECF80 Types.
