These Ampeg pre amp revalve kits are put together to provide a sonic upgrade over the stock valves in your Ampeg. I own and have played over the past 30 years Ampeg SVT, Original V4B and for recording the B15-N portaflex. I have also used many of the Ampeg valve pre amps.So these kits use the best of New Old Stock valves and modern day production items to give you the best sound out of these lengendary bass amps.
The Ampeg B15N JJ 6SL7 Revalve kit will cover the majority of B15 porta flex family of amplifiers manufactured by Ampeg. This will cover the original 1960's B15, 1962 B15NB and any model that use 3 6SL7GT valves. This amplifier has a number of variants so please check your amplifier and model for the exact valve line up.

Many Ampeg owners have asked me what I think of the JJ 6SL7 and would I recommend them.
The short answer is a yes I have used them and yes I would recommend them.

JJ have made a rugged 6SL7and they have used a traditional ladder plate anode, used a solid external support rod which is clamped above the top mica. Star or sharks toothed mica spacer as some people call them are used top and bottom and finished off with a halo style getter.

The sound that JJ valve produces is excellent on many levels, they do not fatten the bass like the RCA. They also do not have the aggressive edge of the Philips. They provide a beautifully balanced sound. Set all the tone controls to 12 o'clock and you get the character of your bass, a Rickenbacker 4001 sound exactly as it should at all volume levels. A Fender Jazz bass sounds clear and true.

When all the new old stock 6SL7 are gone the JJ 6SL7 offers a great level of performance and at an excellent price.

The set consist of 3 specially selected JJ 6SL7 with a balanced valve for use in the phase inverter position which is located nearest the output valves.
