Sylvania Electric Products Inc. based in Emporium, Pa was an American manufacturer electrical equipment and vacuum tubes In 1942 the company changed its name to Sylvania Electric Products Inc. In the early 1980s was Sylvania sold to Philips and the Philips ECG valves were produced in the Emporium plant until it closed
6L6GB Sylvania black plate


These are Sylvania 6L6GB marked 6L6GC by Sylvania. These have the Black box plate with 3 rib section with top square getter. So it was the predecessor to the Sylvania 6L6GC with different specifications.

The 6L6GB has a plate dissipation of 19 watts with a max plate voltage of 360 Volts.
So biased around 70% of 19 watts ball park neg grid volts of -52 to -54 .

I would only recommend these in amps that have lower plate voltage. So before fitting these you should seek some technical advice with a local technician to your amp suitability in fitting the 6L6GB.

If you can fit these then you will be rewarded as the valve distorts sooner has less headroom than a regular 6L6GC.

The break up is very early, crunchy with a wonderful forward midrange The top end response is very clear and smooth with and very even in performance.

When compared to a 6L6WGB 5881 USA made valve which is many people go to valve. The Sylvania 6L6GB breaks up earlier and is fuller in the mid band an is smoother at the top end.
