Britsh Brimar 6V6GTY Simply the best
The Harma 12AX7WA Vintage and Brimar 6V6GTY upgrade kit is arguably the best set in recreating the classic crunchy tweed sound.
The set is very well balanced with a clear punchy midrange with first class clarity and is the fattest sounding 6V6 valve I have ever come across. Therefore these are ideal in Jesse's wonderful Tweed Lazy J amps
The Harma 12AX7WA Vintage has been specially designed by the factory to recreate the two most vital elements of classic valve sound. The famous Mullard mid band and the outstanding top end clarity of the General Electric.
Sonically, the Harma 12AX7WA Vintage has plenty of definition with a clear open top end chime whether played in clean or overdriven mode. The factory enhanced midband replicates the vintage Mullard producing as warm and thick mid sound with excellent note the definition.
The master stroke is that the Harma 12AX7WA does not go thin and fizzy or harden in the midland when driven with pedals. It retains the sparkle and chime and gives the overdriven sound fatness and smoothness without being brittle or hard.
The preamp set response perfectly complements the sound of the Brimar 6V6GTY
In clean mode the Brimar displayed all the sounds from the Strat, Tele and Les Paul in all the settings perfectly. The bass response was tight, deep and well extended. Midrange was detailed and silky smooth with excellent harmonic content .The treble was also very smooth with no spikes even when switching to finger style playing.
In overdriven mode the Brimar really did set the pace as when the volume and gain were cranked up you get no fizz or flabbiness, no early compression to suck all the tone out of your sound and they supply simply great rock guitar sounds. This valve has a sweet smooth break up similar to the Mullard EL34 it also has killer woman tone, the best of any 6V6GT I have ever tested
The Brimar 6V6GTY certainly ranks in the top 3 of best 6V6GT ever made along with the USA made RCA and Classic France Mazda. The majority of these valves we have exported across the world to owners of original Tweed Fenders with great results
The kit consists of 3 Valves
1 Specially Selected Harma 12AX7WA Vintage
1 Specially Selected Brimar 6V6GTY
1 Specially Selected JAN Philips 5Y3WGTA
Please note that this kit is for the valves only
