Black Plate Version

American Sylvania 6K6GT clear glass black anode plate. These are the later type with round ribbed anode and top halo getter with yellow logo

Sylvania 6K6GT Black Plate are considered by many guitarists as having a cleaner more sparkling top end hence the best sounding 6V6GT for that Classic American Reverb sound.

In clean mode the Sylvania had a brighter top end when compared to the RCA 6K6GT. This open top provides a warm transparent and more sparkling reverb sound. Hence why many owners of original Fender reverb unit preferred this 6K6GT. The valve also breaks up later than the RCA. So for unrivalled clarity it is hard to beat the Sylvania.

In my own reissue 63 reverb which came with a 6V6GT I found that Sylvania 6K6GT reduced the treble harshness and provided a warmer smoother sound. It was very close to the RCA but for what it worth I felt the RCA has the Edge and was warmer in the midband.

If you own one of the reissues and you want a clear and vibrant sound. These black plate Sylvania 6K6GT are real gems and will give you classic a sound that no modern day 6V6GT can match.
