The Sovtek Corporation produces a range of the most popular audio and guitar valves. These valves are made in Russia to high standards at the reflector plant. These valves are used by original equipment manufactures the world over for their sound quality and reliability.
The Sovtek 12AX7WA become the industry standard 12AX7 valve that is used by many manufactures for its super low microphonics and for its solid and proven reliability.

We were trading in the early years of the mid 1990s and the hole that appeared in the market when the Chinese factory closed was filled when Sovtek introduced the 12AX7WA.

The WA was cleverly designed by Sovtek to have a slightly reduced gain. This was to cater for the vintage amp market and also to sound good in the growing number high gain amps of the time .It was built to fill the gap which it did very well.

The benefits of the Sovtek 12AX7WA is that it has a lower noise floor when compared to the Chinese 12AX7. It had lower microphonics and the reduced gain gave the valve a clear smooth treble response. Add to that a tight clearly defined bass and Sovtek had a real winner that is still in production today.

When the valve is run into distortion it produces a clear vintage style overdrive and handles boost signals from pedals extremely well with no fizziness. It also has a very solid construction with rigid anode plates so is great in combo applications. It is also a great replacement for modern high gain amps to tame some of the fizz.

It is no surprise that this valve has been the first choice of Ampeg, Blackstar, Carvin, Fender, Hartke, Kendrick as well as countless other manufactures. Sovtek valves are designed and manufactured with strict quality control and engineered for demanding conditions and high reliability.
