Orion Radio valves were originally a brand name of the Tungsram factory of Hungary. In later years this was used by as a brand by valves distributors and wholesalers.
The EM87/6E2 is an old magic eye/indicator valve. It has been used recently in TL audios range of fatman I Tube valve docks. Used in models I Tube valve dock, I Tube red, I Tube 182 and I Tube 252

These EM87 are branded Orion Radio and made in Austria. They come in the original Orion Radio orange and yellow box.

An additional feature of the EM87 is that a recording signal greater than 10V will cause the luminous areas of the display to overlap, thus giving a brighter section at the centre of the display. These large voltages can result in distorted recordings, and the brighter section of the display thus serves as a useful indication of when the recording signal modulation is excessive hence why it was found in many tape machines.

We have a small quantity only of this hard to find magic eye. The Mullard Item shown in the picture is for reference only.
